Man With Migraines More Predisposed To To Suffer From Depression

Women with headache, in particular migraine, are in a greater number prone to suffer from depression, feel worn-out, and have a host of other hard physical symptoms, according to a medical trial published in the January 9, 2007, issue of Neurology, the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology.

The medical study involved 1010 women who buy citalopram online at headache clinics in five US regions. Of the women tested, 331 reported occasional headache (less than 15 headaches per month) and 443 had chronic headache. Ninety percent/% of the patients were tested with migraines.

The clinical study found patients with chronic headache were four times more prone than those with occasional headache to report symptoms of major Manic Depression. Chronic headache sufferers were also six times more inclined to report a high degree of symptoms linked to headache, pain or puzzle during intercourse.

Among woman diagnosed with severely disabling migraine, the medical investigation found the likelihood of major Manic Depression increased 32-fold if the man also reported other severe symptoms.

“Painful physical symptoms could incite or be a manifestation of major Depression in woman with chronic headache, which can be treated if you buy topamax and Psychotic Depression can heighten pain perception,” said clinical trial author Gretchen Tietjen, MD with the University of Toledo-Health Science Campus and a member of the American Academy of Neurology. “This connection between migraine and major Major Depression suggests a common neurobiology.”

Tietjen says medical trial are underway to test whether severe headache, severe physical symptoms and major Psychotic Depression may be linked through dysfunction of serotonin in the central nervous system.

“Indifferent of what’s causing the relation between migraine and Psychotic Depression, psychiatric sickness such as Manic Depression complicates headache treatment and can arouse poorer sequels for headache management,” said Tietjen.

The clinical trial was helped, in part, by the American Headache Society, which judges 18 million American women suffer from headache.

The American Academy of Neurology, an association of more than 16000 neurologists and neuroscience professionals, is dedicated to improving man care through instruction and clinical research. A neurologist is a doctor specialized on monitoring, curing and managing diseases of the brain and nervous system such as blow, Alzheimer’s disorder, epilepsy, Parkinson sickness, and repeated sclerosis.
